This Week in Cardinal Pride - 9/20/26

What. A. Weekend!
We started on Friday night with a fantastic combined performance with our JH band students. The future of the Cardinal Pride is very bright! Plus, we got to watch Caleb Meinershagen, Kaden Marjamaa, and the rest of the football team get a HUGE win against the Nixa Eagles!
On Saturday, Cardinal Pride performed at the Carl Junction Marching Festival. In preliminary competition, the band was 1st place in Class C (classes are determined by band size for this contest; class C was the biggest bands), also winning the Outstanding Winds and Outstanding Color Guard caption awards! Cardinal Pride was also the highest score of the day in prelims overall! In between prelims and finals, we found out that our cheerleader, Madilyn Therrien, and the rest of the cheer team won first place in the St. Louis Regional contest! Finally, in finals competition, Cardinal Pride won 1st place overall, taking the Outstanding Winds and Outstanding Color Guard caption awards again. And while they didn’t get a caption award today, a huge shout out to our percussion section for moving up from 4th place in prelims to 2nd place in finals! It was a fantastic weekend for ALL of our kids and their events. We are so very proud of everything they do!
A tremendous thank you to all of the parents who donated snacks, water, time, and anything else this weekend to contribute to the success of these kids and our program! None of this is possible without your support. I am always in awe of your dedication, and I appreciate what you do so very much. As a program, we can never thank you enough.
After all of that excitement, this week should be much calmer; the only “extra” thing we have this week is our second Saturday rehearsal. We will continue to improve the first two movements using the feedback from the contest judges, and we also hope to work on finishing out the show. Though the weather (thankfully!) looks to be changing this week, you should still keep the kids hydrating with water as much as possible. Water is ALWAYS good.
One final thing to remember this week is mum pickup on Wednesday, which will be after school in the tennis court parking lot.

Friday: Rehearsal in band room @7am
Saturday: Rehearsal 8am-4pm.
