This Week in Cardinal Pride - 10/4/26

Hello, everyone!

We had a long and event-filled week, but the kids handled things great! They did well in the homecoming parade and at the bonfire on Wednesday night, they were great at the pep rally on Friday afternoon, they had a fine football game performance on Friday night, and then they topped it all off with our best result ever at the Bentonville Marching Invitational! They had a great prelims run and qualified for finals. They then had an even better finals performance, jumping ahead of two schools that outscored us in prelims to finish in 9th place overall! Ninth place in finals at a contest like Bentonville is something to be extremely proud of. The level of competition there is truly stellar; add in the fact that we were nearly the smallest (if not the smallest) band in finals, and we could not be prouder of the kids and their work! Thanks again to the band booster army that helps take such good care of our kids. I cannot thank you all enough for what you do to make this all possible (but come to the band booster meeting on Monday night at 6:30pm in the band room, and I will try!) Thank you!

We have a relatively easy week this week, with an evening rehearsal on Monday night and our final Saturday rehearsal on Saturday. Now that we have reached this point in the competition season, it is all about cleaning and refining what we are currently doing. That was consistently the feedback that we were receiving from the adjudication panel from Bentonville. Our “big picture” stuff is really great, and they LOVE the show. Now, we have to dig in and try to get every single person to do things the same way, at the same time, with the same energy. That’s what makes a good marching band into a great marching band. To accomplish this, we need your student at every rehearsal. They can’t clean and refine if they aren’t here, and, if we do make small changes suggested by judges when they aren’t here, then they are that much more behind. Please encourage them to still be drinking plenty of good fluids (not energy drinks) and to be getting as much sleep as they can. We’ve got three weeks left in the competitive marching season, and we want to make them the best that they can be!

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Have a great week!
