This Week in Cardinal Pride - 8/30/26
Hello, everyone!
I hope everyone has had a smooth start to their school year. It is going to be a busy week for the Cardinal Pride! We start our Monday evening rehearsals, host our first home football game, and have our first of three Saturday rehearsals this week.
Monday evening we will rehearse from 6-9pm. Parents, you are welcome to come and watch rehearsal if you would like to. We rehearse on the practice fields, so there isn’t really any provided seating, but you can certainly bring a chair and come see what we do. All we ask is that you not distract from the rehearsal while it is going on.
Friday night is our first home football game. Our gameday begins at 4pm on the football field for a brief rehearsal of the evening’s performance. At 5pm, the boosters feed the band dinner, and at 6pm we are warming up and getting ready to head to the stadium for the game, which begins at 7pm. All members of the band sit in the band bleachers for the entire game. Parents and family are not allowed to visit the band bleachers during the game, and no outside food or drink is allowed in the band bleachers. Students should bring their water bottles, and we will provide water after halftime as well. Depending on the flow of play, games usually end around 9:15-9:30pm. After the game, we will go back to the band room, and students will be dismissed when all equipment is put away, uniforms are hung up, and the band room is cleaned up. No one may leave until dismissed by a director. If everyone does their job, we can get out pretty quickly, typically by 9:45-10pm. Due to the weather expected for Friday, we will wear the same thing that we did for Parent Preview: blue band camp shirt, black athletic shorts, and tennis shoes.
We will end this week with our first Saturday rehearsal, which will run from 8am-4pm, with a lunch break from 12-1pm (sometimes 1:30pm). Students may leave for lunch, or they may stay and eat something they have brought with them. As with band camp, we will monitor the weather very closely and will be outside as much as we are able to be.
Finally, please be aware that the mum fundraiser has started. This is always a big fundraiser for the boosters, and I hope you will consider getting out and selling some mums. Even if you are only able to sell a few, it is a tremendous help to the boosters. Forms can be found in a previous ParentSquare message, on the website (www.webbcityband.com), or they can be picked up from me in the band room.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Have a great week!
