Hello, from the road home from BOA!
And just like that, it was over.
We performed “When the Lid Closes” for the final time in competition yesterday at the St. Louis BOA Super Regional. The kids were fantastic!
All the bands in this competition were outstanding. That is a big reason why we come to this contest. There were 69 total bands this weekend. Cardinal Pride finished in 37th place. Some folks might think that is disappointing; those folks would be very, very wrong. That is a 13-place improvement from last year! To make that kind of jump in one year is a major accomplishment! We were one of the smallest bands in our performance block, performing in between two finalist bands that were a size-and-a-half bigger than we are. In fact, four of the fourteen finalist bands came from our performance block. And our kids held their own. We are so, SO proud of them! We keep improving year after year, and that is all we can ask of the students. We are incredibly proud of their performance yesterday, as well as their performances throughout the season.
This season has truly been special. A HUGE thank you goes out to all of you who made it possible. Thank you!!!
With the end of competition season comes the end of early band and evening rehearsals. We will now rehearse during the normal white day class period only. Hopefully, everyone will enjoy a little more sleep going forward. A reminder — if you have not paid your fees, please do that as soon as you can. If you cannot pay in full just yet, please consider making a few smaller payments. Every bit that we can get in helps a great deal.
Football season is still going strong, and we will travel to Carthage on Friday night for the first round of the district playoffs. I do not have any details at this time, but as soon as we have a plan in place, I will send everything out to you.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Have a great week!
